Socialism and Messianism

Marx's diagnosis of Christian Dualism as an expression of secular contradictions might accurately apply in some circumstances, but it does not reflect the actual historical genesis of the concept.  Rather, it is the product of the Platonization, by Augustine, of Christian Messianism, which is derived from Jewish Messianism.  Now, the latter is originally a secular concept, entailing the political recovery of Jerusalem under the leadership of a corporeal champion.  Thus, as a secular ideal, Marxist Socialism can be understood as a recovery of that Messianic tradition from the incorporeal variation that has predominated in much of the world for more than a millennium.
