Writing, Materialism, History, Money

Because of their inattention to Writing, Marx-Engels miss an opportunity to strengthen Materialism, as Derrida does over a century later--by showing that any system of Ideas presupposes a concept of Writing.  They also cannot appreciate that History as they conceive it is virtually impossible without Writing, in comparison with which the only alternative, oral transmission of the past, is significantly limited.  But, the most important influence of Writing on modern Economics is that Money is a special case of it.  For, without the inscription of value, the utility of any medium of exchange is drastically diminished.  So, Marxism neglects what is, at minimum, a pervasive relevant factor in its purview.
