Science, Practice, Experiment, Socialism

In Marxism, 'Science' is a species of Theory, i. e. a representation of a sequence of events as Necessary, which creates the problem of reconciling Revolution as an object of Theory, with Revolution as the product of free Practice. However, Marx-Engels do not seem to consider not only that Science is a species of Practice, but that it is predominantly so in the Modern era. For, since Galileo, Science is fundamentally the product of a mode of Practice--Experimentation, as is the Technology that constitutes the Means of Production that is the determining factor in the course of events represented by the Marxist theory of Revolution. Now, an essential characteristic of Experimentation is uncertainty of outcome. So, on the basis of a Practical concept of Science, Socialism is an Experiment, not an inevitability.
