Practice, Writing, Consciousness

Just as, due to the possession of opposing thumbs, the human organism uniquely, as Marx-Engels note, employs tools as a means to survival, it also uniquely communicates via implements--in writing.  Now, if they had observed their own writing as an immediate example of concrete Practice, they could have discovered implicated in it Consciousness functioning not as a detached recorder of data, but as an attentive guide of the motions of the hand.  On that basis, they could have extended the discovery to all motile processes, including to Perception, which is similarly constituted by the attentive guidance of the motions of the eyes, ears, etc.  They thus could have concluded that the concept of Consciousness as the detached observer of concrete Practical phenomena is as Theoretical as that of it as the detached observer of thoughts.
