Lumpenproletariat and Prostitution

Marx classifies the world's oldest profession as part of the Lumpenproletariat, ostensibly on grounds of non-productivity, possibly sharing a moral judgment with ideologies that he otherwise repudiates.  He thereby evades consideration that prostitution be categorized as a 'service', to which Marxism seems inadequate.  For, since any Service, e. g. treatment by a physician, does not involve the production of a Good, its value cannot derive from the Labor via which some material is transformed.  Accordingly, since there is no surplus-value in the work of e. g. plumbers, a Capitalist victimization of them, like that of prostitutes, e. g. via a generalized deliberate suppression of fees, eludes the Marxist concept of Exploitation, while even fair fees are not explained the Labor Theory of Value to which the Marxist subscribes. Thus, as is the case with the chronically unemployed, as has been previously discussed, the marginalization of prostitutes as Lumpenproletarian reflects more a systematic covenience than some inherent deficiency in their activity.
